For this Spring cider, we combined Yerba Mate, dandelion, and passionfruit cider. Yerba Mate is an ancient herbal tea traditionally consumed with friends – its natural caffeine content helps focus the mind and keep the conversation flowing. A ritual still performed frequently in South America today involves sitting in a circle and passing around a bombilla, or drinking gourd, full of Yerba Mate and refilling it with hot water as friends drink from it. Sounds like a party!
Dandelion has many positive botanical effects – it’s been used in traditional medicines for liver health and inflammation in particular – which is great. We wanted to include it in our Spring seasonal, because, hey, what is more Spring than dandelions? It’s our way of giving you flowers in every can, and who doesn’t like getting flowers?
We blended the Yerba Mate and dandelion tea in to our passionfruit cider, to complete the flavor trifecta. We love the tanginess of passionfruit, especially alongside the earthy tones of its herbal companions. It’s no secret that many friendships have developed over a tasty pour of cider, and we wanted to blend in what we consider to be a very bright, sunny cider (please note we resisted the temptation to make a “passionate” pun here) to balance everything out.
